The Haben Boulevard Gateway project consisted of the construction of the Haben Boulevard roundabout and related stormwater relief in the City of Palmetto. The project consisted of a two lane roundabout and a 36” storm sewer line from an existing drainage ditch to empty into the Manatee River. This project had a unique stormwater retention system, which incorporated a series of 18” and 6” perforated pipes as a replacement for a standard open air retention system. This challenging design allowed the City to reduce the budget costs of the project by negating the need to purchase additional land to accommodate a traditional retention pond.
